Academic Guidance Counselling – We’ll Help You Plan for University
Luther College High School is proud to be one of the top university preparatory schools in western Canada. Our graduates have gone on to prestigious universities like Harvard, the University of Pennsylvania, Oxford, McGill, Queen’s, and many more renowned institutions around the world.
Students are also invited to attend university Open Houses held each fall. Details about these visits will be posted on the website calendar (link at the top of the website) and announced in Chapel. We’re here to support your journey to higher education!
If students have questions about university requirements, external scholarships, application procedures, or university IB recognition, they can book an appointment with our Academic Guidance Counsellor, Julia Mitchell.
For more information or to schedule an appointment, students can contact Joel Beres by email at julia.mitchell@luthercollege.edu.
Academic Support
We have a dedicated Academic Support Coordinator, trained to provide the help students need. If a student has a diagnosed learning disorder, we work with them to create personalized accommodations and supports so they can thrive in their studies.
For students or families who have questions regarding available learning supports, please contact both our Academic Support Coordinator, Ashley Brezinsky, at ashley.brezinsky@luthercollege.edu and our Academic Vice-Principal, Derek Persson, at vpstudentacademics@luthercollege.edu.
Personal Counselling
We have two counsellors, Mrs. Wilkinson and Mr. Belous, who are available to support students facing personal challenges, mental health issues, or if they just need advice.
Counselling sessions can be held in-person or remotely, depending on what works best for the student. During remote sessions, we use secure video conference technology to protect privacy and confidentiality. Sessions are never recorded, and students will be informed of any risks to confidentiality.
To make an appointment or if you have any questions, email Mr. Belous at bryan.belous@luthercollege.edu or Mrs. Wilkinson at colleen.wilkinson@luthercollege.edu. We’re here to support you!
Health Services
Our nurse’s office is open from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. During these hours, students can visit the nurse for any health-related concerns.
Our registered nurse provides routine care, referrals to family physicians or community resources, and emergency medical care when needed. If you need help with a health issue, feel free to stop by the nurse’s office during these times. We’re here to support your well-being!
