Academic Support Coordinator

Description of Duties

Luther College invites applications for a 12-month term contract (December 2024 to December 2025) with the possibility of extension in the role of Academic Support Coordinator. Reporting to the Vice Principal of Academics and ultimately the Principal, this position is responsible for supporting students who have identified learning barriers directly as well as providing liaison support.

Responsibilities

  • Support students who have identified learning barriers.
  • Breaking down large assignments and clarifying instructions.
  • Offer tools and teach strategies to support the prewriting/planning process of larger projects and assignments that best fit a students’ need.
  • Support building and strengthening executive functioning skills.
  • Provide organization support and support self-advocacy skills and independence.
  • Communicate and collaborate with administration, Student Counsellors, Dorm Deans, Student Success Coordinator, and Academic Support Teachers as necessary/appropriate, regarding student supports.
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and/or guardians, outside agencies, and appropriate school personnel.
  • Facilitate and coordinate accommodations as required, especially during exam periods.
  • Administrative duties including but not limited to documentation and record keeping, scheduling and facilitating recommendations from assessment reports.
  • Provide transition support for students at various levels of their academic standing.
  • Facilitate additional academic support opportunities for the student body.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education and currently hold a Saskatchewan Teacher’s Professional A Certificate
  • Inclusive Education Certificate
  • Minimum one year experience in learning resource or learning support
  • Experience teaching at the high school level or at a university would be preferred
  • Value teaching in an educational institution informed by the Lutheran heritage of excellence in scholarship, freedom of inquiry and a faithful seeking after truth.

Salary and Benefits

Salary and benefits are commensurate with the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation Agreement.
